Victory Motorcycle’s Project 156
Victory and Roland Sands Pikes Peak Collaboration
An unexpected surprise at this year’s AIMExpo was the chance to see a one-off motorcycle up-close that I had been fascinated with, Victory Motorcycle’s Project 156.
This race bike, built by Victory and Roland Sands Design, was campaigned in the 2016 Pikes Peak International Hillclimb. Purpose-built to get up the mountain as quickly as possible, Project 156 was an exercise in function over form.
Piloted by Jeremy Toye and resulting in a course time of 10.19.777, placing first in the Exhibition Powersport class and third overall.
Victory Motorcycles shut down in 2017 and with parent company Polaris now focused on the Indian Motorcycle brand, Project 156 left a lot of questions unanswered about what could have been. There were rumors and hopes for a Project 156 production model or it being the basis for a future Victory sportbike or café.
