The 2018 Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run finished in Stevenson, WA at the scenic Skamania Lodge, about a one-hour ride from Portland, OR. Competitors were riding pre-1929 motorcycles with only a roll chart for navigation, no GPS. This year the event started in Portland, ME and followed a cross-country route totaling 3,400 miles over 15 days a solid trip on a modern bike but a real challenge on a 10 horsepower antique, give or take.
Although I wasn’t able to stick around for the full event or get pictures of all of the competitor bikes, many of the motorcycles, sidecars and cars the spectators arrived in were just as interesting. The huge variety of vintage, rare and modern motorcycles in the parking lot was better than many bike shows I’ve attended.
