Aether Rally Jacket

August 13, 2017 in

Just got the new Rally jacket from Aether Apparel and I am blown away by the quality. Yes, I am normally pretty dedicated Aerostich guy but I wanted something that can be worn off the bike when walking around,  on a plane for a fly-and-ride, and so on. Aerostich is great on the bike but not so great if you want to... View Article

TechSpec Tank Grips Installed

July 23, 2017 in

Installed a set of TechSpec Tank Grips on the R1200R yesterday. Not sure about the look on this bike but I wanted more grip and to protect the paint and this 5-piece set from TechSpec will definitely do that. I ordered them from Twisted Thottle using some “Twisted Points” I had from a previous order to save a few bucks. Twisted... View Article

The Aerostich Roadcrafter Changed My Life

July 8, 2017 in

I openly admit that I am an Aerostich fanboy. Before even trying on one of their suits I knew this was the gear of serious riders. John Ryan, Ron Ayres, all the heroes of the Iron Butt Association wore Roadcrafters. It was also the uniform of the hardcore daily rider or as I like to put it the “true believer”, those who can’t be bothered with... View Article

Lid Picker Review

June 30, 2017 in

My goal with this review was to go into it without a specific helmet in mind and use the Lid Picker measuring kit and service to make my decision. My only criteria outside of fit is an internal sun visor and available in solid white but I am willing to be flexible on both of these if needed. Background I currently wear a Shark... View Article

Travel Tools for Roadside Motorcycle Repair

June 19, 2017 in

I used to be that guy, the one who carried enough tools on the bike for a roadside engine teardown that would never happen. I’ve changed my ways though and put together a small kit that fits under the pillion seat on the R1200R Modern bikes are far more reliable than motorcycles in the past and if you do need major... Lid Picker Helmet Sizing Kit

June 17, 2017 in

Ordered the Lid Picker kit from the awesome folks at MotorcycleGear.com today. The Lid Picker is a measuring system for helmet fit that takes your measurement data and gives you a customized report on which helmets are the best fit. It includes measuring tools and instructions. They don’t have every helmet in their database but have many of the most popular.... View Article

June 16, 2017 in

I’ll be packing the tent on the bike and riding to Hood River, August 23-27 for the 15th annual Rally in the Gorge, put on by Sound Rider. I’ve not attended before so I am really looking forward to checking it out. Four days of camping and riding, what’s not to like? I’ll shoot some photos, do a write-up on my experiences at the rally and... View Article

Route 47 and Scappoose Vernonia Highway

June 10, 2017 in

Rode Highway 30 from Portland to Clatskanie and for the return trip I took Route 47 to the Scappoose Vernoia Highway until it rejoined 30. Just shy of a 3 hour ride with a distance of 110 miles. The Highway 30 is boring slab until it changes from four to two lanes near Rainier. Highway 47 The junction of 30 and 47 is easy to miss, use the... View Article

Muc-Off Nano Gel Bike Cleaner

June 10, 2017 in

I admit I’m a terrible human being, I rarely clean my bikes. I’d much rather ride my motorcycle than take the time to clean it. Ridden daily, rain or shine, the Beemer was well overdue for a scrub so I decided to try find an easier way with a spray-on/hose-off cleaner. I had heard good things about Muc-Off products and decided... View Article
