Portland, Oregon to Westport, California

April 27, 2018

I left Portland early Monday morning on the BMW R1200R, traveling light and heading east on Route 26. It got chilly as the highway gained altitude over the pass. It had been warm when I left so I hadn't bothered with my heated liner. I chose to suffer and be a bit chilly instead of stopping to put it on at this point, I was on the move. ... View Article

Traveling Light

April 16, 2018

Over the last few months I've downsized what I pack for motorcycle trips to the point everything fits in my much loved Mosko Moto Backcountry 30 liter duffle bag. No panniers needed at all unless I am bringing camping gear, even then I still have room to spare. ... View Article

The One Moto Show – Portland, Oregon

February 12, 2018

I went on a short ride down to The One Moto Show today with my camera to shoot some bike pics. I've attended the show in the past but I have to say this year was the best yet. The motorcycle builders, hosts and vendors all did an excellent job putting on a great show.... View Article

The Aerostich Roadcrafter Changed My Life

July 8, 2017

Rocky Point Road Loop

Gravel in some of the apexes due to dirt roads off the main road. Fun ride but I'd not push it too hard with the risk of loose surfaces.... View Article

Sauvie Island, Oregon

May 25, 2017

My usual short motorcycle ride route is to head to Sauvie Island from Portland. Sauvie is a good out and back trip when you've only got an hour or so to burn. Varied roads, scenic and generally light traffic... View Article

Trojan Park – Rainier, OR

May 23, 2017

Trojan Park is a short ride from the city. Hwy 30 is a bit of a slog heading north from Portland but when you get about 10 miles from the park it goes to two lanes and a bit curvy. The road is more interesting north of the park heading to the coast but I didn't go that far this time out.... View Article
